What a credit buys

Each engine has its own credit rate. All plans include the same public engines and supported regions; concurrency increases with the plan.

Credits cost $2.00 per 1,000 on Basic and about $0.95 on Max. Completed answer tasks are charged at the engine rate; failed tasks release their reserved credits.

Questions

What happens when I run out of credits?

New requests fail with an insufficient-credit error. You are never automatically billed past your plan. You can upgrade in the billing portal.

Do unused credits roll over?

No. Each billing period resets your balance to the plan allowance; unused credits expire. The subscription buys a usage allowance for that period.

Can I change plans mid-month?

Yes, in the billing portal. Stripe prorates the difference; payment of the resulting invoice applies the new plan allowance.

Am I charged for failed tasks?

No. Credits are reserved when a task is accepted and released if it does not complete.

Can I try it before paying?

Every new account receives 2,000 credits without a card. That covers about 1,000–2,000 requests on the public answer engines. Source Influence is metered separately.

Does Source Influence also cost 1–2 credits?

No. Source Influence is a separate analysis priced by model usage and source fetching. See the Source Influence documentation for the metering rules.
